Ms. Stewart has served as the principal of Grandview Elementary School in Grandview, Texas, since 2010.

Attributing more than three decades of experience to her career in education, Ms. Stewart has served as the principal of Grandview Elementary School in Grandview, Texas, since 2010. Responsible for the oversight of approximately 650 students from pre-K through grade five and various special programs such as Title 1, 504, G/T, dyslexia and special education, Ms. Stewart is also in charge of all teachers and staff members and the safety of everyone on campus.
Ms. Stewart began her journey as a fourth-grade teacher during the early 1990s in Cleburne, Texas. She subsequently served nearly 20 years at Grandview Elementary School where she taught fourth-grade students. Additionally, Ms. Stewart had the opportunity to serve as the district librarian and as an assistant principal before being promoted to her current position.
Building relationships has notably been one of the keys to Ms. Stewart's success throughout her profession. She has also been instrumental in building a nurturing culture within the school that allows for continued professional growth of her many faculty members as well as an environment that includes always putting the children first. Looking toward the future, Ms. Stewart would like to expand her expertise by teaching at the collegiate level.
As a testament to her hard work and dedication, Ms. Stewart's school was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School by the Department of Education in 2015, which is notably the highest recognition that a school can earn in the nation. She attributes this honor to the success and hard work of her team. Ms. Stewart's school was also recognized as an Honor School every year between 2015 and 2018.
Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Ms. Stewart is involved on the board of the Children's Advocacy Center and the Back to School Fair. She is also the president of her local Lion's Club.
Ms. Stewart notably received a Master of Library Science from the University of North Texas in 1988. Well qualified in her field, Ms. Stewart is a licensed teacher and holds credentials as a school administrator in the state of Texas.
To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Stewart is a member of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association. Ms. Stewart is also a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals where she will soon be representing the state of Texas at the organization's convention in October 2022 in Washington, D.C.
In 2022, Ms. Stewart was honored to be named the 2022 National Distinguished Principal of the Year for Texas. Only one principal throughout the state is selected per year. To be considered for the award, Ms. Stewart first had to be nominated and, as one of four finalists, had to complete an intense, one-and-a-half-hour interview.
