He has long strived to make a difference in the world and exert a positive impact on the lives of others.
RALEIGH, NC, October 20, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- James I. Anthony Jr. has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on more than three decades of expertise as a commercial real estate advisor, Mr. Anthony has distinguished himself as a leader in his field since 1987. In this capacity, he serves as the chief executive officer of the Anthony Property Group (APG), an umbrella organization under which operates APG Capital, which specializes in real estate investment and development, and APG Advisors, a commercial real estate firm that bears a focus on the sale and lease of land, office, industrial, multifamily and retail properties throughout North Carolina.
Well-regarded for his ability to identify opportunities, structure deals and propagate a culture of excellence in his respective organizations, Mr. Anthony previously worked with Grubb & Ellis Company in Los Angeles, California, as a brokerage professional between 1979 and 1983, during which time he was recognized as the Rookie of the Year in 1980. Following this period, he relocated to North Carolina, where he served as the leasing and management director of NAI Carolantic Realty from 1983 until 1987, whereupon he established Anthony & Co. The company joined Colliers International in 2010, after which it experienced substantial growth and a reputation for providing the best in commercial real estate services. In 2020, Mr. Anthony founded APG, which has earned distinction as one of the largest companies of its kind in the southeastern United States.
To remain aware of developments affecting his field, Mr. Anthony maintains his affiliation with such organizations as the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and the Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors, for which he served as a board member from 1985 to 1989 and as the president in 1988.
Outside of his primary career endeavors, Mr. Anthony has lectured on behalf of students at both the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School and the Duke University Fuqua School of Business. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, he is a founding partner of Jobs for Life, a nonprofit organization, the formerly the chairman of the Developer Relations Task Force for the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, a member of the board of advisors for Wells Fargo Bank of North Carolina, and the Salvation Army, and a director of both the Rex Hospital Foundation and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Society, among many other roles to his credit.
Mr. Anthony first sought an education at Duke University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in religion and religious studies in 1976. During this time, he joined the fraternity of Beta Theta Pi, helped establish a chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and qualified as a regional finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship in 1976. Mr. Anthony subsequently attended the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, from which he attained a Master of Business Administration in 1978.
In accounting for his success, Mr. Anthony credits his inherently gracious nature and voracious appetite for learning new things. Believing that he was created for a specific purpose – something more significant than making money – he has long strived to make a difference in the world and exert a positive impact on the lives of others. Looking toward the future, he hopes to continue working for as long as he is able, as well as focus on serving as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren, and further cultivating his talent at singing and playing the guitar.
