With more than 48 years of excellence in dentistry, Dr. Shinn has found success as an endodontist. In this capacity, he serves as the senior endodontist for EndodonticsLA. Since 2015, he has focused his efforts on difficult cases referred to him by other general dentists, especially root canals and surgical procedures. Additionally, he is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, the California State Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the Angel City Dental Society and the Western Dental Society, among other professional organizations. Also a dedicated civil advocate, he lends his expertise as a volunteer endodontic associate for the Children's Dental Center in Los Angeles, and is a member of the Diversion Evaluation Committee for the California Dental Board.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Shinn began his career as an endodontist with a private practice in 1977 until becoming an endodontic associate for Paul Campbell DDS Inc. in 1992. While serving in this role, he was also an endodontic associate for Dr. Mehta and Dr. Pandya from 2001 to 2005 and for Dr. Roland Markarian, DDS from 2009 to 2016. He continued his career in 2010 with Dr. Shaw and Dr. Skinner and worked with Airport Center Family Dental from 2010 to 2018.He is currently volunteering at The Children's Dental Center, a non-profit dental organization providing quality endodontic services to the underserved population, and serves on the California Dental Board's Diversion Evaluation Committee.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Shinn completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California. He then attained a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1974. Dr. Shinn was one of the first four Black students to graduate from UCLA Dental School in 1974. Well-qualified in his field, he holds an endodontics certificate from the University of Iowa School of Dentistry. In recognition of his excellent work, he was honored with a Silver Angel Award from the Angel City Dental Society in 2015.
Within the coming years, Dr. Shinn intends to take on a qualified associate or sell his practice while continuing to serve as an endodontist. He strives to emphasize compassion in his dental care, having empathy for his patients and expressing genuine care for them.
