Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Bills pursued an education at Howard University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 1994. She continued her academic efforts at Washington University in St. Louis, earning a Master of Science in Social Work in 2011. As a commitment to her field, she attained a graduate certificate in leadership development from the Harris-Stowe State University in 2013. Additionally, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists, the Florissant Rotary Club, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis Whitney M. Young Society, the Top Ladies of Distinction Inc. and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Bills contributes to Mental Health America Inc., the multi-cultural marketing committee for the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission, and the local advisory board and community advisory council for iHeartRadio.
