OCEANSIDE, CA, October 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Neville Alleyne, MD, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on more than 30 years in his field, Dr. Alleyne is recognized for his expertise in spinal surgery; since 1989, he has served as an orthopedic surgeon at Orthopaedic Specialists of North County, a pioneer in robotic spine surgery, and he currently serves as the institution's president. In addition to excellence in surgical techniques, patient outcomes and medical administration, Dr. Alleyne holds the distinction of owning nearly 40 patents, including three that were of significant importance to the world of spine surgery. Perhaps his most notable invention is a device that can be injected into a disk to stabilize it and prevent degeneration — a less invasive treatment than the common practice of inserting rods and screws into the spine.
Dr. Alleyne's interest in surgery began when he was a child; despite humble beginnings, he dedicated himself to his education and went on to study at some of the most elite academic institutions in his profession. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in molecular biology from the Columbia University in the City of New York in 1979 and went on to obtain an MD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 1983. His education continued with an internship and residency in general surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital, a fellowship in total joint reconstruction at Harvard Medical School – Massachusetts General Hospital, and a spine fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital.
Upon completing his training in 1989, Dr. Alleyne joined the staff at Orthopedic Specialists of North County, which became one of the first four hospitals to conduct robotics spine surgery. Since 2015, Dr. Alleyne also has held appointments as his institution's president and as chief of orthopedics at Tri-City Medical Center.
As a commitment to his field, Dr. Alleyne is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, North American Spine Society, National Spine Health Foundation and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is the author of "Diffuse Histiocytic Lymphoma: Case Report" in the Mount Sinai Journal of Medicine. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 32 years, Marcia, his three children, and their golden retriever. He is also dedicated to the practice of Wing Chun Kung Fu, a practice emphasizing repetition, slowness and perfection that has been greatly impactful in his surgical life as well.
