The Bum Pass Water Ski Club was named Bumpass' sports club of the year in 2022.

A professional water skier and waterski coach, Mr. Vaughn has found success as the owner of Bum Pass Waterski Club Inc., a ski school in Bumpass, Virginia. Established over a decade ago, his school specializes in teaching slalom waterskiing where skiers learn how to use a single ski as they ride behind a boat. Welcoming skiers of all ages and experience levels, Mr. Vaughn is passionate about sharing his knowledge with the world.
In addition to his school, Mr. Vaughn offers a pro shop on site where customers can purchase ski equipment, clothing, accessories, and more from knowledgeable staff members. Additionally, he provides two guest houses on the property in which guests can stay. "The Ski Lodge" is based in the Bumpass countryside. It is mere steps from the ski school dock and features a full kitchen, one bedroom with a king-size bed, and all the amenities. Meanwhile, The Ski Cabin overlooks the lake and offers two large bunk beds and a beautiful view from the porch.
Known by many for his inspirational words, "Peace, Love and Waterskiing," Mr. Vaughn is always focused on his mission both at work and in his free time. A recognized expert in his field, he notably began waterskiing with his family when he was three years old. His grandfather, who learned the sport as a young man in the U.S. Air Force, initially took him under his wing. Mr. Vaughn was also frequently accompanied by his mother and uncle, both of whom competed.
As Mr. Vaughn continually progressed in the industry, he began competing nationally. Among the many competitions he has taken part in, he was the ninth of just 12 individuals in history to complete a pass at 41-off/10.25-meter rope in slalom skiing. He performed this feat both in 2015 and 2016, traveling around buoys towed by a boat at the rate of 36 miles per hour. Looking toward the future, Mr. Vaughn aspires to win first place in an official pro tour, run another 41 off-pass, and stand on the podium as the world champion.
Prior to opening his successful business and school, Mr. Vaughn worked as a septic systems technician from 2008 to 2009. Finding himself unfulfilled professionally, he wanted only to immerse himself in his favorite sport. He had been privately coaching a family in Virginia and dreamed of expanding that role. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Vaughn decided to quit his full-time job and delve into pro skiing and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Vaughn is active in his community as a member of the Lake Anna Business Partnership and the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as the vice president of the Virginia Water Ski Federation and as a fundraiser for the Lake of the Woods Adaptive Watersports Foundation by hosting an annual tournament to benefit disabled skiers.
An alumnus of Clemson University, Mr. Vaughn received a bachelor's degree in political science, with a minor in philosophy, in 2008.
In recognition of his devotion to the sport of waterskiing, he was the recipient of a Gertha Hancock Memorial Award. The Bum Pass Water Ski Club was named Bumpass' sports club of the year in 2022. Vaughn was also awarded Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Lake Anna Business Partnership in 2020.
