Drawing on 15 years of speech-language pathology experience specializing in traumatic brain injuries, Mrs. Teytel-Cocozza serves as a clinical educator, works in an acute hospital, and established a pro bono brain injury clinic to help families in need. Since 2017, she has served as a speech-language pathologist at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases and a senior speech-language pathologist at Northwell Health. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at Long Island University, where she supervises students who are interested in pursuing the neurogenic field. Undergraduate courses she teaches include Language Acquisition Across the Lifespan, and Introduction to Communication Disorders and graduate courses she teaches include Acquired Adult Neurogenic Disorders, Geriatric Diagnostic Practicum, Dysphagia, Adult Clinical Practicum Seminar, and Diagnostic Practicum/Adults. Mrs. Teytel-Cocozza is the co-author of "Clinical Resource Manual for Graduate Speech Language Pathology Students: Transition from Theory to Practice" (2021).
Long motivated to give back to her community, Mrs. Teytel-Cocozza is most proud to have been able to establish her pro bono facility, Leading Innovative Multicultural Brain Injury Clinic (LIMBIC). Looking toward the future, she strives to expand the scope of LIMBIC's operations toward assisting the many families who cannot afford treatment or intervention for their injuries.
Prior to her current roles, Mrs. Teytel-Cocozza served in speech-language pathology roles at Allure Care, Pre Care SLP, Kids Unlimited PLLC and Sea View Hospital Rehabilitation Center and Home. She was also an adjunct professor at Brooklyn College.
Mrs. Teytel-Cocozza holds a Bachelor of Arts in speech-language pathology/audiology from Brooklyn College and a Master of Science in speech-language pathology from Long Island University. She completed her clinical fellowship at Omni Rehabilitation Center and is a certified brain injury specialist trainer and speech language pathologist. She is an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences, and the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is fluent in English and Russian languages and holds a Bilingual Extension (BE) to the Teacher for Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certificate.
