An expert in teaching karate, Dr. Bonomo has been a dedicated martial arts instructor for more than 20 years. Passionate about music as well as martial arts, he earned an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Roger Williams University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Rhode Island. Following these accomplishments, he began his career in finance, working as the vice president of First Union National Bank for 10 years until retiring from the industry in 2005. He subsequently attained a Master of Arts in Performing Arts from Florida Atlantic University in 2006.
Since 2001, Dr. Bonomo has been the owner and chief instructor of the Florida Shotokan Traditional Karate Association. In this capacity, he teaches Shotokan karate to adults and children in two different locations, both for beginner and advanced classes, in addition to completing administrative work for the school. He is a fifth degree black belt and is associated with the Japan Shotokan Karate Association. Passionate about art, Dr. Bonomo earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Arts and Language from the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters at Florida Atlantic University in 2018. He also exercised his creativity by authoring a book in 1996, "Boardwalk Wolves, Weasels, and One Other Villain." He is currently writing a book about Shotokan karate and intends to restore a live call-in radio show that he previously operated called, "The Phred Fyngys Show," at Squawk Radio.
