With more than 20 years of excellence to her credit in social work, Ms. Golden has found success as an independent practitioner and educator. In this capacity, she functions as a licensed clinical social worker with her company, Kara B. Golden LLC Counseling and Consulting Services. Since 2008, she has focused her efforts on assisting individuals, families and groups, primarily for adult and adolescent patients, while providing her services as a consultant to various agencies in the community, whom she strives to educate regarding topics such as dealing with stigma in mental health and overcoming the adversities of stress and bereavement.
Outside of her primary efforts, Ms. Golden is an adjunct professor and field instructor with Misericordia University. Since 2017, she has taught courses in social work, sociology and psychology while supervising social work field students. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, she lends her expertise as a coordinator for the Wyoming County Interagency Council. She has also served as a board member for H.A.N.D.S of Wyoming County and the Wyoming County Family Resource Center. Additionally, she works with Misericordia University's alumni association and volunteers with her local church.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Golden began her career as a coordinator with a friendly caregiver program for Catholic Social Services. Following this period, she served as a tutorial coordinator at Misericordia University until becoming a social work intern with Tyler Home Health in 2006. That same year, she undertook a counseling internship with Marywood University, and later served as an in-home companion, a group facilitator for the Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance, and a mental health consultant for Head Start of Lackawanna County. Throughout this period, she also maintained involvement as a consultant for Wyoming County Human Services and supervises social workers who are working towards completing their clinical licensure.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Golden earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Misericordia University in 1999. She subsequently attained a Master of Social Work degree, with a concentration in direct practice, from Marywood University in 2007. Well-qualified in her field, she is a licensed clinical social worker with the State of Pennsylvania. Looking toward the future, she intends to continue expanding the scope of her vocation by pursuing certifications in new specialty areas. She also plans to focus more of her efforts on teaching and speaking engagements, mentoring students, and working with colleagues.
