Prior to his current role, Dr. Fragomeni began his career as a summer research intern for the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. Research Center in 1984 and then was a management associate engineer for US Steel Corp. in 1985. The next year, he was a research assistant for the Engineering Research Center at Purdue University until 1994, subsequently working for the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. He continued his career with Lawrence Technological University as an instructor in 2002 and was a metallurgical engineering consultant with Westmoreland Mechanical Testing and Research, Inc. in 2007. He then was a quality systems manager for Distel Tool and Machine Co. from 2008 to 2010 as well as for a consultant service in Royal Oak, Michigan, until 2013.
For his academic career, Dr. Fragomeni became an assistant researcher for the Department Defense Analysis Center at Purdue University in 1995 and an assistant professor for the University Alabama the same year. In 1997, he moved to Ohio University as an assistant professor, becoming a summer faculty fellow with the Wright Patterson Airforce AFB Materials and Manufacturing Directorate in 1998. He subsequently worked as an assistant professor for the University of Detroit Mercy from 2000 to 2004.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Fragomeni earned a Bachelor of Science in metallurgical engineering from the University Pittsburgh in 1985. He then attained a Master of Science in engineering in 1988 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1994, both from Purdue University. Well-qualified in his field, he is a quality technician ASQ and is certified in construction quality management from the United States Army Corps Engineers. In recognition of his excellent work, he has won numerous awards, including the International Biographical Centre's Pinnacle of Achievement for Education Award. He has also been named to the 2000 Outstanding Scientists, the Great Men and Women of Science and the American Registry of Outstanding Professionals, among several other distinctions.
