Originally established as ROHM Services, the organization is now comprised of 11 skilled nursing facilities which are operated by Hurlbut Care Communities®/Hurlbut Health Consulting, LLC. Providing exceptional care to over 700 residents a year, the organization is comprised of approximately 1,300 dedicated team members.
As a Licensed Administrator, Mr. Hurlbut manages the daily operations of all 11 facilities, including the main office which houses accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other support services. Mr. Hurlbut is also responsible for making sure his facilities pass annual New York State Department of Health Surveys each year.
After graduating from college, Mr. Hurlbut joined the family business as an Administrator at The Hurlbut Nursing Home, LLC and was subsequently named President of Hurlbut Health Consulting, LLC. by his father Robert H. Hurlbut, who stepped down and assumed the role of Chairperson. Based in Rochester, NY, Hurlbut Health Consulting, LLC. serves as the central support system for the entire family of nursing facilities.
As an extension of his commitments to senior care, Mr. Hurlbut has been serving on the board of Strong Memorial Hospital since 2014. He previously served as a member of the Public Health and Health Planning Council and was past Vice President of the Country Club of Rochester. He has also served as a member of the President's Round Table at Rochester Institute of Technology, and as a board member of the Monroe County Sherriff's Foundation, the Memorial Art Gallery of Rochester, NY, as well as a past board member for the Monroe County Water Authority.
An alumnus of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Mr. Hurlbut acquired a Bachelor of Science in the School of Food, Hotel, and Travel Management in 1984. Additionally, Mr. Hurlbut earned his credentials as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of New York.
Mr. Hurlbut is a charter and life member of the Rochester Institute of Technology Hospitality Society since 1984. He is also a prominent member of the American College of Health Care Administrators, the New York Provider Alliance, and the New York State Health Facilities Association.
In light of his accomplishments, Mr. Hurlbut made the Power 30 List for Health Care in 2022, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021, and the Healthcare Achievement Award in Senior Care from the Rochester Business Journal in 2013. He was also chosen to receive a Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1998 as well as the Sarah Margaret Gillam Award from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2009. Mr. Hurlbut was also honored by the Rochester Chamber of Commerce with his company being named among Rochester's Top 100 Companies in 1998. Furthermore, Mr. Hurlbut received recognition in the Rochester Business Journal with a 40 Under 40 Award in 1995 and for his volunteer service, Mr. Hurlbut received an Exceptional Volunteer Service Award from the American Red Cross in 1992.
