Following his graduation, he began his career as the manager of production and operations for the fledgling aquaculture company Cermaq Canada (formerly Mainstream Canada) in 2001 and helped grow the company to over US$1B revenue and a successful IPO on the Oslo Bors Stock Exchange in Norway in 2006.
To further his expertise in his profession, Mr. Hanegraaf attained a Master of Business Administration from HEC Montréal in 2010 where he graduated at the top of his class. Equipped with this academic achievement, he served as the chief financial officer for Waste to Energy Canada Inc. from 2010 until 2013 until joining Gex Capital Corp. as a managing partner in 2013. He continued his career as the principal and managing director of Hong Kong based Feature Capital Partners Ltd. from 2015 to 2022. Specializing in venture capital, Mr. Hanegraaf builds early-stage technology companies by identifying and resolving weaknesses via improved strategies and expertise such as new partners, board members, executives, and other professionals.
Mr. Hanegraaf was simultaneously the chief strategy officer for TheXchange in 2019, becoming the head of capital markets for the company in 2020, which he continues today. He was also the director and chief financial officer for Great Eastern Gold between 2021 and 2022. Additionally, he has been the chief financial officer for Dragonfly Mining Ltd. since 2020. In recognition for his excellence in finance in these dynamic roles, he was featured as one of the Top 10 Most Influential Leaders of 2021 by Analytics Insight Magazine and was featured in the Top 100 in Finance Magazine the same year.
