CORONA DEL MAR, CA, November 08, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronald LeRoy Richmond has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on years of professional experience, Dr. Richmond presently excels as an aerospace engineer for Ford Aerospace/Brunswick Defense. During the early stages of his career, he gained valuable expertise in engineering management and education roles with Brunswick Defense, Ford Aerospace, Douglas Aircraft Company, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Richfield Oil Corporation, Shelby American Automobiles and the University of California, Irvine.
Outside of his main career path, Dr. Richmond devoted himself to his community through the Orange County Sheriff's Department as a reserve lieutenant between 1976 and 2012. In order to remain aware of developments affecting his field, Dr. Richmond aligns himself with the Experimental Aircraft Association, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Western States Association of Sheriff's Air Squadrons and the Skylarks of Southern California. Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Richmond earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in aeronautical engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
Due to his wide range of knowledge, Dr. Richmond has authored several works, including "A Lifetime of Aviation" and his thesis through the California Institute of Technology. Throughout his career, he has experimentally proved that skin friction force on long, slender cylinders was several times that on flat plates, at Mach 5.8 for both laminar and turbulent boundary layers, which was one of the highlights of his career. Likewise, as a lieutenant at the Orange County Sheriff's Aero Squadron and as a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, he worked with children to get them interested in flying.
To commemorate his accomplishments, Dr. Richmond received a Research Assistantship through the California Institute of Technology, a teaching assistantship through the California Institute of Technology Research and a Man of the Year for Business Leaders and Professionals via the Top 100 Registry. Similarly, he won the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far, he credits his success to his interest in technology. Looking toward the future, Dr. Richmond intends to continue to fly and maintain his own aircraft.
