Committed to an array of civic and nonprofit initiatives, Mr. Bartels has been serving as a volunteer trustee for the Town of Macedon for more than 25 years. He is also a trustee for the Pioneer Library System, chairperson for the Wayne County Planning Board, and donor for Mercy Flight Central in Canandaigua, New York, and is involved with several veterans' organizations. Most honorably, Mr. Bartels served in the U.S. Air Force as a part of the strategic air command for four years. It was during his service that he was first introduced to his industry and garnered experience as a technical writer in the aviation field. As a veteran of the military, Mr. Bartels has also become a respected member of his local American Legion for more than 40 years where he presently oversees its local newsletter. Additionally, he is active as the secretary and a historian of the Post American Legion.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Bartels studied at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he achieved a Bachelor of Engineering Technology. As a part of his professional commitments, Mr. Bartels is a respected member of the Society of Technical Writers and Publishers and the Wayne Writers Guild.
Highlighting his achievements, Mr. Bartels was decorated with 23 Blue Ribbons at the Annual Veterans Craft and Arts Competition. He was also recognized with mention at an annual Veteran's Day event by Senator Helming. Mr. Bartels attributes his success to his passion for writing and to his mentors.
