Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience in the field, Ms. Policar has been recognized for her leadership as a chief estimator for the Weitz Company, a national general contractor, design-builder and construction manager. In this capacity, she is responsible for analyzing the company's commercial building projects to determine how much money, time and labor the project requires — a complex process that draws upon her extensive experience in subcontractor relations, quantifications, costing, solicitations, value engineering and constructability reviews. Ms. Policar's experience in the field was born of her academic journey at the Arizona State University, from which she obtained a Bachelor of Science in housing and urban development in 2004. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she began working as a lead estimator for the Weitz Company, a position she held until 2011. She continued her career as an Arizona regional estimating manager for Intel Corporation from 2012 to 2016, after which she returned to the Weitz Company in 2016 as a senior estimator and was promoted to chief estimator in 2022.
Ms. Policar was certified as a LEED-accredited professional by the U.S. Green Building Council's Arizona Central Branch in 2006 and graduated from the Arizona Builders Alliance Leadership Development Forum in 2019.
As a commitment to her field, Ms. Policar serves as vice chair of the Arizona Builder's Alliance membership committee. In this capacity, she is particularly passionate about recruiting people to the construction industry and creating a more inclusive and diverse space for all.
Ms. Policar credits much of her success to being surrounded by good mentors and coworkers in a highly collaborative environment, and she is eager to provide the same support system for the next generation in her field. Outside of her vocational circles, she has been married for 17 years, and is the mother of an 8-year-old son.
