Drawing on over two decades of expertise, Ms. Diaz Feliciano specialized in music education. Prior to her retirement in 2017, she built a prolific career as the founder and music educator at her own educational center, the Adagio Music Studio Inc. In this capacity, Ms. Diaz Feliciano was responsible for teaching different levels of piano, voice and instrumental music lessons to the community. Student ages covered a wide range from preschool to conservatory level.
Ms. Diaz Feliciano initially began her career in music education serving at the prestigious San Juan Professional Children's Choir in Puerto Rico. She continued her vocation in a similar capacity, working at various private schools, where she established successful music programs and departments. She then founded the choral program at the Mennonite Academy in Summit Hills San Juan, Puerto Rico, and contributed to the Mennonite High School Choral Festival on various occasions in regions of the United States and Canada. Following this post, she moved to The Music Conservatory Prep School, where she taught elementary and juvenile choirs for over a decade presenting spring and Christmas choral concerts each semester.
Additionally, Ms. Diaz Feliciano worked for the federal government as the music specialist of Antilles Middle and High School band teacher and director at the military base in Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Diaz Feliciano pursued an education at Puerto Rico's Music Conservatory where she obtained a Bachelor of Music Education, with a minor in piano performance. She continued her academic efforts at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, earning a Master of Music in 1995. As a commitment to her field, she has been certified in the Suzuki method of teaching and was active as a member of The Suzuki Association.
In addition, Ms. Diaz Feliciano worked hand in hand in the beginning of the Puerto Rico Choral Society. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Diaz Feliciano served as a music committee member and a director for choral events with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, where she has served since her baptism throughout Puerto Rico and the United States.
Though her professional journey has been filled with many memorable moments, Ms. Diaz Feliciano is especially proud of establishing effective music programs in multiple school curriculums. Reflecting on a long career, she attributes much of her success to her ability to make a positive impact in the lives of many individuals through music. Looking toward the future, Ms. Diaz Feliciano aspires to serve as a consultant and hopes to contribute to nonprofit organizations in her field of expertise.
