Mr. Glenn is a former National Basketball Association (NBA) player, analyst, philanthropist, author, and financial expert who has been recognized in the sports world as Mike "Stinger" Glenn. A shooting guard who was originally drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 1977, Glenn fractured a cervical vertebrae in a car accident and was temporarily disabled. He ultimately played for the Buffalo Braves (now Los Angeles Clippers) for the remainder of his rookie season. Mr. Glenn went on to play for the New York Knicks, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Milwaukee Bucks before concluding his professional career in the industry in the 1986-1987 season.

He also served as commissioner for the World Basketball Association, became a public speaker, and published five books, including My Next Shot Goes In: Ten Sacred Characteristics of NBA Players that Lead to Success. Additionally, Mr. Glenn spent time as a financial consultant for Edward A. Viner in the Wall Street area and Merrill Lynch in Atlanta. He also taught general education development (GED) courses for over a decade to students who had previously dropped out of high school.
During his career in the NBA, in 1980, Mr. Glenn established the nation's first major basketball camp for deaf athletes. The Mike Camp for the Deaf has been going for over 40 years. In 1982 he started the Mike Glenn Foundation. Mr. Glenn was inspired by his parents: his father was notably a basketball coach and math teacher at the Georgia School for the Deaf, where Glenn learned basketball and Sign Language; and his mother was an elementary school teacher. His sister was also a collegiate history teacher.
Developing a passion for the documents of African American history and culture, Mr. Glenn became a nationally renowned collector. His passion led him to display approximately 35 exhibits across the country. Mr. Glenn's collecting and research has formed the basis for several of his books. Today, he enjoys speaking to students, communities, and television audiences about historical lessons.
Mr. Glenn received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from University of Southern Illinois in 1977. Mr. Glenn also took graduate level business coursework at St. John's University and Baruch College.
Mr. Glenn is a member and former board of directors member of the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA). In 2013, he played himself in a feature-length film called The Spirit of Love: The Mike Glenn Story. The movie received numerous awards, including Best Inspirational Movie of the Year at the ICM Country Music Association in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Glenn's professional career also earned him many accolades, including a Gate City Barr Association Professional Athlete Award, recognition as a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) two-time Academic All-American and inclusion into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame. While on the New York Knicks roster, he led the team in free throws and field goals percentages. Meanwhile, Mr. Glenn's philanthropic endeavors have generated him recognition with a Walter B. Kennedy Citizenship Award from the NBA, The Spirit of Love Award from the NBA Players Association (NBPA), a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Award from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, a Hosea Williams Award for Community Activism from Georgia State University, a Champion Award from Operation Livesaver Inc., and a National Service Above Self Award from the Springfield Massachusetts Rotary Club. Mr. Glenn is also an alumnus of Leadership Atlanta, a member of the Georgia Historical Society, and a member of The HistoryMakers.
