After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education major in Special Education from Silliman University and received a Latin honor as cum laude; earned a Master of Arts in Special Education from Negros Oriental State University major in Mentally Challenged and Autism; studied Bread and Pastry production (NCII) at Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as a scholar in Dumaguete City, Philippines, Ms. Saycon came to the United States of America in 2020. Since then, she has worked as a self-contained teacher at Cholla High School and a resource teacher for exceptional education with Myers/Ganoung Elementary School through the Tucson Unified School District. Dedicated to her students, Ms. Saycon works with each student via individualized learning plans.
Alongside her work as an international tutor, substitute teacher in private and public schools, a permanent and an exceptional education teacher in the Philippines prior to coming to the United States, Ms. Saycon volunteered in some local programs for students with special needs and have created an organization together with her team that focused on students with Autism. Throughout her career, she has presented research on inclusive education, received a Distinguished Performance Award during her first-year teaching in the U.S., and facilitated and attended trainings on special education. Though her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Saycon takes the most pride in working with behaviorally challenged students, learning disabilities, autism, and other health impairments, and doing research upon coming to the U.S.
While hard work and dedication have brought her far, Ms. Saycon credits her success to her passion for teaching and her compassion for children. Moreso, she is very honored and thankful to the people who were always on her back when she was in the Philippines and even here in the U.S. whom she has built trust and positive rapport with and who are constantly available for her in times of doubts and successes. The following are the special people she would like to acknowledge whom are part of her achievements in life.
Mr. Lyndon Torres Saycon, her husband who is very supportive in every dream Ms. Saycon has and who is always present in every up and down of their lives.
Mrs. Jacinta Capilla, Apolinar Capilla Sr., Jeanilyn Grace Capilla-Bellosillo, Ronic Capilla and Apolinar Capilla Jr., her family who from the start believed Ms. Saycon's abilities and talents. They never doubted Ms. Saycon's skills and passion in teaching wherever she goes.
Mr. Peter Perkins and Mr. Rick Yang, who happens to be Ms. Saycon's most trusted beautiful couple who treated her as family when she got in the U.S. and who provided knowledge and introduced American cultures during the first months of her arrival.
Cholla High School and Myers/Ganoung family, Ms. Saycon's schools where she taught as a self-contained teacher and as a resource teacher. They taught her to be strong, honed her knowledge and expertise professionally and had helped her to be an effective teacher with compassion.
In the next five years, she intends to experience the continued growth and success of her career. Ultimately, Ms. Saycon aims to impart her knowledge to her colleagues and future co-teachers, as well as expand upon her own knowledge.
