TELFORD, PA, November 30, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jillian Nicole Fontana has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For more than five years, Dr. Fontana has been employed by Grand View Health (GVH) as a lead outpatient physical therapist. An expert in neurological/vestibular physical therapy, she treats anywhere from eight to 12 patients per day, specifically those with Parkinson's or individuals suffering from vertigo or concussion. She also oversees operations for two different facilities, assists with the onboarding of new staff members, conducts performance reviews, and assists payroll. Additionally, Dr. Fontana serves as a site clinical coordinator for students from eight different universities. Dr. Fontana also educates the community through her bi-yearly balance seminars and organizing a Parkinson's Support Group that meets one time per month at Grand View Health.
Leading a very rewarding career, Dr. Fontana especially enjoys being available to her patients and her staff, as well as training the next generation of therapists. Presently working to establish a concussion program at GVH, the facility recently earned credentials as a level 2 trauma center and is seeing more severe cases involving traumatic brain injuries. The concussion program, Dr. Fontana noted, would make it much easier for patients to be seen. Adding to her expertise, she established a local Parkinson's support group in her area and she is actively involved with the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment, which is a type of behavioral treatment for patients with Parkinson's.
GVH is recognized as a premier health care organization that has been in existence for over a century. Centrally located in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, it is a private, nonprofit hospital that serves all of Bucks and Montgomery counties.
Previously, Dr. Fontana garnered experience with the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, a long-term care rehabilitation facility for patients with neurological disorders, as a recreation therapist from 2007 to 2013. During this time, she worked full time and went to school full time to complete her doctorate of physical therapy. She subsequently became a physical therapist in 2013 before being named as a senior physical therapist at Good Shepherd between 2013 and 2016. Dr. Fontana also taught Zumba at Cedar Crest College from 2013 to 2016 and aqua Zumba at her local Young Men's Christian Association between 2013 and 2020. Furthermore, she spent time in the classroom as a graduate teaching assistant at her alma mater, Neumann University, for several years beginning in 2016. Outside of her primary career endeavors, she worked as an independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay Inc. on a part-time basis from 2012 to 2022.
Although Dr. Fontana is no longer employed by Good Shepherd, Dr. Shepherd continues to volunteer her time and services. Looking toward the future, Dr. Fontana aims to continually progress in management, expand GVH's concussion program, and, among other goals, continue educating and training therapists.
Highly educated, Dr. Fontana received a Bachelor of Science in leisure studies with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation and a minor in pre-physical therapy and dance from the University of Iowa. Shortly thereafter, she acquired a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Neumann University. Dr. Fontana also received credentials as a Zumba and Aqua Zumba instructor, certified therapeutic recreation specialist, neuro clinical specialist in physical therapy, certified fitness instructor for aqua aerobics and cycling, and, among other areas of the field, as a strategic orthopedics cervical, headache, LSVT ® BIG certified and vestibular specialist attending Emory University's vestibular program as well as the American Institute of Balance.
To remain abreast in her field, Dr. Fontana is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and its neurological/vestibular subgroup. Additionally, Dr. Fontana is active as a member of the Vestibular Disorders Association and the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment.
Recognized by Neumann University, Dr. Fontana was named as the Alumni of the Year for her contribution to the health science field. Dr. Fontana attributes her success thus far to her work ethic and her drive to continue learning and growing in the field, as well as sharing her education with her patients and peers.
