Since 2020, he has focused his efforts on caring for his patients in their homes, allowing those who are unable to travel to a doctor's office to receive treatment. He and his colleagues utilize a mobile x-ray, laboratory and ultrasound to bring stellar services to their patients.
Dr. Stavrou began his career as a cardiologist with Sumter Medical Consultants. He has also served on the medical board for Clarendon Memorial Hospital in 2016. Among his professional accomplishments, he is proud of serving as president of the South Carolina Hert Association (1987-1988) and to have received numerous recognitions, including being named Best Cardiologist by Sumter Item in 2019. He was also admitted as a fellow to the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Stavrou earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Wofford College and a Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine in 1975. He then completed an internship in internal medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine in 1976 and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the same invitation in 1980. Well-qualified in his field, he is certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine with the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Within the coming years, Dr. Stavrou intends to take a step back from his career, focusing more of his efforts on helping hospitals to develop teaching programs on physical diagnosis.
