With more than 30 years of excellence to her credit in pharmacy services, Ms. Wega found success as a leader in her field. She most recently was the chief of pharmacy services for the VA Central Western Massachusetts Healthcare System from 2012 until her retirement in 2021.
Prior to joining the Veterans Healthcare System, Ms. Wega served honorably from 2000 to 2012 as an Officer in the United States Air Force where she attained the rank of Major. While in the United States Air Force, Ms. Wega held the leadership positions of Associate Pharmacy Flight Commander, Diagnostics and Therapeutics Flight Commander, and Pharmacy Services Flight Commander, among others. In recognition of her dedicated service, Ms. Wega was honored with Air Force Meritorious Service Medals as well as Air Force Commendation Medals.
Ms. Wega's professional journey began in 1990 when she joined CVS as a Pharmacist Intern and subsequently worked as a registered Pharmacist with the retail chain until the year 2000.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Wega earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the Howard University College of Pharmacy in 1990. Subsequently, in 2006, while serving in the United States Air Force, she obtained a Master of Science in Quality Systems Management from National Graduate School.
Now retired from her primary profession, Ms. Wega has embarked on a cause that is close to her heart. Her experience with raising a now young adult son, who is on the autism spectrum, is driving her efforts to help alleviate the challenges faced by those affected by this condition.
Ms. Wega is the author of an App called RevMe https://revmeapp.com that provides life skills practice opportunity to autistic individuals. She hopes to expand this initiative with additional modules of the application when feasible. RevMe is available on the App Store and on Google Play.
Prior to RevMe, Ms. Wega established a website called AUTA – Autism & Us Together Advancing http://www.AUTAgroup.org that includes autism related information and resources. Her hope with this initiative is to realize projects to help improve the quality of post-secondary and adult life for individuals affected by autism spectrum disorder, through inclusive peer networking and suitable employment opportunities.
Ms. Wega strives to remain grounded in her values, maintaining a great sense of humility and fulfillment. Having come to the United States as an international student, she is grateful for the opportunities that have afforded her much success.
