Drawing on over two decades of expertise, Ms. Barton specializes in visual and fine art prints. Since 2019, she has found much success as the owner and fine artist of Pat Barton Prints. In this capacity, she utilizes photographic sources and drawn images to create intaglio, lithography and linocut fine art printing. Prior to this role, she served as a creative director and creative services manager at Schlumberger Limited from 2002 until 2019. During this time, Ms. Barton was also active as the owner, artist and director at Barton Designs as of 2008.
Ms. Barton initially began her vocation serving as a graphic design instructor for such institutions as the University of Dallas, The University of Tulsa, Brookhaven College and Arapahoe Community College, between 1980 and 1996. She then worked as a creative manager at the American International Group Inc., formerly known as the American General Life Insurance Companies, from 1998 to 2001. In her career related endeavors, Ms. Barton's artwork was featured in multiple exhibitions, including the Archway Gallery, the Marie Flickinger Fine Arts Center of San Jacinto College South, The Printing Museum, the Tiemann Art Gallery and the Koelsch Gallery, to only name a few.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Barton pursued an education at the Southern Methodist University, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design in 1972. She continued her academic efforts at the University of Dallas, where she completed postgraduate coursework in printmaking in 1982. She then concluded her scholarly endeavors at The University of Tulsa, earning a Master of Arts in fine art drawing and printmaking in 1990. As a commitment to her field, Ms. Barton has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Burning Bones Press, PrintMatters Houston, the Los Angeles Printmaking Society and the Mid-America Print Council.
Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Barton has received multiple awards from professional advertising and marketing organizations. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud of successfully managing her private business and empowering individuals through her artwork. Reflecting on a long career, she attributes much of her success to her tenacity and commitment. Looking toward the future, Ms. Barton aspires to establish a studio with a gallery, where she can create and exhibit her personal artwork, as well as that of other artists, and hopes to incorporate a space for music performances and poetry readings.
