Dr. Gitelson had a varied career as an intern at the Rockefeller Foundation and an assistant professor of International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Since then she has demonstrated excellence as a prolific presence in international business as president and chief executive officer of the MTIIC Corporation and as president of International Consultants, Inc.
Well-regarded for her civic engagement and expertise on policy, Dr. Gitelson has contributed as a member of several organizations with an international scope. To wit, she has served as the director of international affairs and the third world for the World Jewish Congress, the national vice president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a board member of the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University. She has also sat on the board of trustees of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy and the National Institute of Social Sciences.
Dr. Gitelson has published scholarly articles on four continents. More recently, she is the author of "Giving is Not Just for the Very Rich: A How-to Guide for Giving and Philanthropy". The book serves as an effective guide to making charitable contributions and offers numerous examples of prominent donors, social entrepreneurs and nonprofit professionals.
A prolific sponsor of quality education, effective policy and selfless charity, Dr. Gitelson has been a notable supporter of the Dr. Susan Aurelia Gitelson Award for "Human Values in International Affairs" at Columbia SIPA, the Columbia SIPA Gitelson Policy Forum, the Truman (originally Gitelson) Peace Prize at the Truman Institute of the Hebrew University, and many more. For her tireless advocacy, she has been the recipient of many accolades in her own right, including the Medal for Conspicuous Alumni Service from Columbia, an Outstanding Service Medal from SIPA, and an award from the Einstein Visionaries Society. She also received an honorary degree from the Hebrew University.
