Mr. Williams and his team of compassionate experts focus on helping clients and their loved ones create lasting memories in a comforting and inviting space.
DALEVILLE, VA, December 15, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David C. Williams Jr. has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Williams is managing partner of Rader Funeral Home, in Daleville, Virginia. Specializing in providing funeral home, burial, and cremation services throughout Botetourt County, including pre-planning and immediate services, Mr. Williams and his team of compassionate experts focus on helping clients and their loved ones create lasting memories in a comforting and inviting space.
Established more than 120 years ago in Troutville, Virginia, the Rader Funeral Home is recognized as the oldest business of its kind in the entire county. Subsequently opening a second location in Stewartville, Virginia, which was in operation until 1950, followed by another location in Buchanan, Virginia, until 2001, the Rader Funeral Home now exists in just one location in Daleville since 1996.
Besides his daily responsibilities at the funeral home, Mr. Williams is recognized as an expert in grief counseling, specifically with regard to pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and newborn deaths. He has also been an active mortuary officer for the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Region V, for approximately two decades. In 2017, Mr. Williams was notably deployed to San Juan, Puerto Rico, following Hurricane Maria in 2017, to offer his service and expertise.
A very humbling career, Mr. Williams credits his success to his empathetic nature, both toward his employees, many of whom are notably retired, and toward his many client families. Of all his accomplishments, Mr. Williams is most proud of having established what is called a goodbye room at the funeral home. There, bereaved family members have the opportunity to say their goodbyes in a non-formal setting after their loved ones have been cleaned, shaved, and bathed and before funeral or cremation services begin.
Mr. Williams worked for a local cemetery while he was in high school where he performed various types of labor, including cutting the grass and digging and filling graves by hand. He subsequently worked for a funeral home while in college pursuing a career in accounting and briefly for the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio. Eventually changing majors, Mr. Williams graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1986. Well-qualified in his field, he received certification through the National Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards and the Academy of Funeral Service Practice, became a certified grief counselor for infant and stillbirth deaths, and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Ohio and licensed funeral service provider in the state of Virginia.
Locally, Mr. Williams is an active parishioner of the Church of the Transfiguration in Fincastle. To remain abreast in his field, Mr. Williams is a member of the Blue Ridge Funeral Directors Association, the International Cemetery, Cremation, and Funeral Association, the Virginia Funeral Directors Association, and the National Funeral Directors Association.
