Now retired, Mr. Tenaglia found success in the field of construction for more than 45 years. Throughout this time, he distinguished himself in various roles with D.J. Construction Company Inc., a company specializing in the construction of commercial and industrial buildings, including schools and hospitals – including the Alexander Eastman Hospital in Derry, New Hampshire. Beginning in 1961 as an estimator, Mr. Tenaglia advanced to become a project manager and, eventually, served as the vice president and treasurer of the company. In this role, he liaised with architects, negotiated with clients and dispatched contractors.
Prior to his work as a civilian, Mr. Tenaglia was drafted into the U.S. Army, during which time he functioned as an instructor and served with the corps of engineers. Years later, during the course of his career at D.J. Construction Company Inc., he undertook a job at a naval base in Massachusetts. Since the U.S. Navy was seeking to hire for a construction battalion, he accepted a role at the age of 43 with the U.S. Navy Reserves, which he maintained for more than 15 years before his retirement.
Mr. Tenaglia's performance in the field was largely sustained by his academic journey. He studied civil engineering at Northeastern University, from which he attained a Bachelor of Science in 1970. Likewise, he was granted a Class A Builder's License, and was inducted into the Society of Civil Engineers.
Outside of his vocational circles, Mr. Tenaglia has maintained his affiliation with Rotary International.
Among his most cherished accomplishments, Mr. Tenaglia is most gratified to have provided for his family and put his two children through college. In accounting for his success, he largely credits his propensity for hard work, as well as the pride he took in what the company was able to achieve. Looking toward the future, Mr. Tenaglia aspires to enjoy the luxuries he has been afforded by retirement.
