Ms. Kuhn is particularly proud to have played an instrumental role in reversing a trend of dysfunction and structural chaos at the Newark Public Schools.
UNION CITY, NJ, December 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tracey M. Kuhn has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having accrued over two decades of valuable expertise in her chosen field, Ms. Kuhn has earned distinction as the director of instructional programs and performance at the LEAD Charter School, an alternative public charter school specifically designed for opportunity youth – young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who are neither working nor in school – based in Newark, New Jersey. In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the school, monitoring programs as they are implemented for integrity and validity, reviewing student data and serving as a mentor for her colleagues.
Ms. Kuhn previously served on behalf of the Newark Public Schools, the largest and oldest school system in New Jersey, as a psychologist and clinical coordinator from 2001 until 2022, during which time she found success as a vice principal for two years. Throughout this period, she worked primarily with students living with severe social, emotional and behavioral issues, contributed as part of the instructional team, and facilitated coaching efforts and consultations with building administrators. Ms. Kuhn's work in administration led naturally to her present role at the LEAD Charter School, where her skillset has been utilized to its fullest potential.
Among her career accomplishments, Ms. Kuhn is particularly proud to have played an instrumental role in reversing a trend of dysfunction and structural chaos at the Newark Public Schools, where she worked alongside the principal to facilitate observations, meetings, training and provide support for staff members. She was also chosen to spearhead an anti-social behavior management initiative, which had previously over-classified minority students, and built capacity at the general educational level to reduce overall referrals. Likewise, her efforts yielded a significant decrease in referrals to special education as it directly related to the overclassification of black and brown youth.
Ms. Kuhn first sought a formal education at Northern Arizona University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in general psychology and a Master of Arts in school psychology. Following this accomplishment, she studied further at Rowan University, where she graduated with a master's degree in educational leadership and administration. Throughout this time, she was also inducted into the honorable society of Phi Delta Kappa, a professional organization for educators.
Ms. Kuhn initially became involved in the field of psychology due to the plight of her younger brother, who was forced to surmount various obstacles, stigmas and labels as a result of his academic struggles. Thus inspired to ensure that other students did not suffer under similar circumstances, she felt motivated to seek a role in the school system. In accounting for her success, she credits the example of her father, who instilled within her a lifelong dedication to education. Looking toward the future, she aspires to continue sharpening her skills as a leader and instructional coach and possibly establish her own educational consultation firm.
