Walzer, teacher and coach at the Akron Public Schools, has been selected for a feature in the Eighth Edition of Marquis Millennium Magazine. Released triannually, Millennium Magazine features the narrative biographies of the world's most esteemed and accomplished professionals. While a senior in high school, Michael J. Walzer conducted tutoring classes at a Catholic grade school as a class project. This formative experience persuaded him to pursue a career in academia, particularly within the realm of elementary education. Matriculating at Kent State University, he earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education in 1976. That same year, he joined the faculty at Akron Public Schools in Ohio, where he served as a teacher of mathematics, science and history for fifth through ninth grade. During his tenure, he also notably excelled as a soccer and track coach. He ultimately retired from education in 2006 after accruing 30 years of excellence in the field.
