With several years of excellence to her credit in public works issues, Ms. Ballot has found success as a deputy city attorney for the City of Oxnard, California. Since 2022, she has served as a transactional attorney, handling a variety of legal issues and assignments including gun violence restraining orders, water conservation within the city and drafting a resolution supporting reproductive rights. Also a dedicated community advocate, she has volunteered with Food Share of Ventura County as a gleaner and gathered signatures in support of a Ventura County open space initiative.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Ballot began her career as a student aide for the Ventura County Watershed Protection District in 2012 and then was a field laborer for Wildscape Restoration, Inc. in 2016. The same year, she was a conversation partner with the University of Oregon-American English Institute until taking a role as a student intern with the Ventura County Planning Division. She was also a summer legal clerk for the US Environmental Protection Agency in 2018 and a project intern for the National Policy and Consensus Center at Portland State University. She continued her career as a legal clerk for the Environmental Defense Center in 2019 and then as a legal extern for the City Attorney Office in Springfield, Oregon in 2020.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Ballot earned an associate's degree from Ventura College in 2011 and a Bachelor of Applied Science in environmental science and resource management with a double minor in biology and political science from California State University, Channel Islands in 2015. She then attained a Master of Science in conflict and dispute resolution and a Juris Doctor, both in 2020 from the University of Oregon School of Law. Well-qualified in her field, she is a member of the State Bar of California and the California Lawyers Association.
Within the coming years, Ms. Ballot intends to continue working on public works projects, particularly regarding water resources law, which encompasses water quality, water rights and allocation.
