Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in the credit union movement, Mrs. Duong has earned distinction as the senior vice president and chief operating officer for Credit Union West. Since 2021, she has focused her efforts on creating strategic initiatives around supporting the organization's mission, "To inspire our members, employees and communities to achieve their financial goals and enhance their quality of life." She is responsible for a large portion of the company including branches, business services, business and community development, digital delivery, marketing and communications, member contact center, and operations support.
Among her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Duong is proud to have been named one of the Top 50 Women Leaders of Arizona by Women We Admire in 2022. She is also featured in the Top 100 People of Finance by the Top 100 Magazine. As a dedicated civil advocate, she serves as a board member with the Valley of the Sun YMCA and is an Arizona chapter board member for the Gift of Adoption Fund. During the pandemic and early days of vaccine availability, she was sought after to provide executive consultation to the California Department of Public Health, establishing and leading contact centers that would answer millions of calls from Californians and medical providers.
She credits her success to her late father, Xiong Lo. He was one of the thousands of brave Hmong soldiers recruited by the CIA to fight in the U.S. Secret War against the spread of communism during the Vietnam War. The Hmong were threatened and singled out after the war ended, and Mr. Lo and his family came to the United States in search of freedom and a new life. Mrs. Duong was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, raised and lived most of her life in Sacramento, CA, and now resides in Surprise, AZ. Her resilience and work ethic is inspired by everything her father gave up and resulted in a life worthwhile.
Mrs. Duong earned a Bachelor of Science in organizational leadership from the Colorado State University Global Campus. Well-qualified in her field, she holds certification as a credit union development educator from the National Credit Union Foundation. She has also completed courses on diversity and inclusion with eCornell. Mrs. Duong is pursuing a master's degree in Human Resources and Employment Law from Arizona State University.
She emphasizes the importance of maintaining kindness and caring as a leader, seeking ways to help her colleagues thrive and achieve their goals. A driven person who has experienced poverty herself, she is dedicated to helping other young people who are in a similar situation, guiding them to the path for success. Mrs. Duong also passionately volunteers in support of non-profit organizations that give back in ways that align with her own values, purpose, and commitment to improving lives.
