Before rejoining the faculty of Southern University College of Agriculture in 2020, Dr. Hodges was a faculty member at her alma mater, Alcorn State University.

Dr. Hodges, Associate Research Professor of Soil and Plant sciences at Southern University College of Agriculture, possesses more than 15 years of experience in agronomy, the science of soil management, and crop production. She brings a successful academic background to her role, including a bachelor's degree in soil and plant sciences from Alcorn State University, a master's degree in agronomy also from Alcorn State University, and a Ph.D. in agronomy from Louisiana State University. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
Before rejoining the faculty of Southern University College of Agriculture in 2020, Dr. Hodges was a faculty member at her alma mater, Alcorn State University, where she served as a research scientist from 2009 to 2020 and also as an associate professor of agronomy from 2019 to 2020. Previously, she worked in project management at the Southern University and A&M College System from 2007 to 2009.
To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Dr. Hodges is a member of MANRRS. This organization promotes academic and professional advancement for minorities in agriculture, natural resources, and related sciences. She was a secretary of the Professional Soil Classifiers Association of Mississippi. She is certified in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace by the University of South Florida and in Zeta Organizational Leadership by the United Latino Students Association. In addition, she has received drone program management certification from Unmanned Vehicle University and earned an FAA Part 107 UAV/Drone Pilot License from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Dr. Hodges attributes her success in her academic pursuits to her strong family and mentorship support throughout the years. In addition, she has a strong background in agriculture. As the granddaughter of sharecroppers and daughter of retired educators, she understands how an acre of production can keep a family afloat financially or cause their downfall, leading her to be deeply passionate about helping farmers.
