ROYSE CITY, TX, December 20, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Lisa Stovall has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Stovall is an award-winning teacher at Sunnyvale Independent School District (ISD), where, since 2015, she has taught fourth- and fifth-grade math. In this role, she draws upon her exceptional teaching skills to transform students' opinions of mathematics; oftentimes, when they get to her class, students dislike math because they find it difficult, but by the time the year is over, they end up loving it. The key, Dr. Stovall notes, is to provide opportunities for hands-on learning.
While many teachers enter the profession because they were inspired by an excellent teacher from their childhood, Dr. Stovall's experience was the opposite. She does not recall having great teachers, so she was determined to provide young people with the kind of educator and role model she had lacked as a child. Early in her career, Dr. Stovall taught in the lowest-income school in Mesquite because that was where she felt God wanted her to be; she taught there for 15 years.
A leader in her field, Dr. Stovall's performance throughout her career has earned her an Apple Core Award and a Teacher of the Year Award, as well as a leadership position as president of Sunnyvale Education Association for the past six years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies and a Master of Education, both from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and a Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University. In addition to her training, she attributes her success to great leaders, who allowed her to teach outside of the box, and great coworkers. Outside of work, Dr. Stovall enjoys spending time with her husband of 32 years, her son and her four grandchildren, as well as tending to her horses, chickens, dogs and cats. Looking toward the future, she is excited to finish writing a children's book.
