Additionally, he has been an instructor of integrative medicine for the Medical University of South Carolina since 2017. Prior to his current roles, Dr. Kapetanakos began his career as a doctor with the Anderson Free Clinic and as a provider for veterans.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Kapetanakos earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the College of Charleston in 1989. He then attained a Master of Science in acupuncture and oriental medicine in 1996 and a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, both from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine. Well qualified in his field, he holds a certification in acupuncture and oncology from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and is a licensed acupuncturist. In recognition of his excellent work with veterans, he received an award from the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Kapetanakos intends to continue his career as a doctor of oriental medicine while continuing his teaching career at the Medical University of South Carolina. His goal is to not only provide excellent care to his patients but to help guide and mentor the advancing generations of physicians.
