An experienced financial executive for more than 40 years, Mr. Jankovsky is managing principal at JM Advisors LLC in Dallas, a premier investment advisory firm that he founded in 2008. Originally concentrating solely on the purchase of distressed commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) bonds, the company has since expanded into providing consulting services more broadly to commercial real estate lenders.
Along with his tenure at JM Advisors LLC, Mr. Jankovsky simultaneously serves as the president at Broadsword Commercial Mortgage, and was the managing director at Quadrant Mezzanine Partners, a co-founder and executive vice president of investment strategies at BH Capital, and a team lead at Beal Bank. He previously held various other leading roles as the vice president and senior producer at JP Morgan Chase & Company, as a regional manager at Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital, and as a regional manager at Merrill Lynch in New York.
Well-respected in the industry, Mr. Jankovsky was notably selected among 10 other finance experts in the industry to help establish a Phoenix-based CMBS platform in 2015 with a large regional bank with exposure in California, Arizona and Nevada. During 2008, Mr. Jankovsky was also instrumental in convincing a private investment platform to purchase $41 million in AJ-rated CMBS bonds from Merrill Lynch in New York for $13.6 million, which, in less than two years, netted more than $38.5 million (resulting in a 79.44% IRR and a 2.83 multiple to all investment parties).
Additionally, Mr. Jankovsky worked for the State of Texas Department of Banking shortly after graduating from Baylor University and thereafter was with a large bank holding company based in Dallas and continued in his career in commercial banking, commercial loan workout experience and derived investment value modeling on behalf of the Resolution Trust Corporation arm of the federal government. This experience led Mr. Jankovsky to his first position on Wall Street in New York City with Merrill Lynch in 1995. It was at that time that Mr. Jankovsky developed an affinity for capital markets and the corporate finance aspect of commercial real estate. Looking toward the future, Mr. Jankovsky is considering mentoring younger finance professionals, which has always been one of his greatest passions. In addition to his production successes at three of the largest Wall Street firms, Mr. Jankovsky considers that his successes were also reflected in his ability to mentor others.
Civically, Mr. Jankovsky serves on the advisory board for the Visible Music College in Memphis, Tennessee. He is also presently a board member for Three Pillars which is based in Dallas.
An alumnus of the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University, Mr. Jankovsky received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance. Adding to his expertise, Mr. Jankovsky was a long time professional member of the MBA where he has also spoken publicly on various professional panels on a variety of commercial real estate finance topics.
