Dr. Uzoigwe, a retired educator, dedicated his professional life to teaching high school students in the Detroit Public School system from 1994 through 2013. During this time, he also functioned as an adjunct faculty at Wayne Community College. Bearing a particular expertise in political science, Dr. Uzoigwe has also collaborated with administrative staff at the university level.
Following the completion of his education in Nigeria, Dr. Uzoigwe assessed the limited professional opportunities of his native country and pursued residency in the United States, where he became a naturalized citizen. His academic achievements are impressive, including a Doctor of Philosophy in higher education administration, earned in 1994, a Master of Higher Education Administration, completed in 1985, and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and International Relations from 1983. All of Dr. Uzoigwe's degrees were completed at the University of Toledo.
A sense of determination, a fierce dedication and a desire to follow in his brothers' footsteps were all motivating factors in Dr. Uzoigwe's professional journey.
