NORFOLK, VA, December 27, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Claudette Woodhouse has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on more than a decade of educational experience, Ms. Woodhouse presently serves as a teacher with Norfolk Public Schools, where she designs lesson plans for the subject content area of World History to 1500 AD for students based on their abilities. Previously, she has designed lesson experiences for the content areas of Sociology, African American History, and the Virginia-United States History. Additionally, she is a board member of The Solidarity Initiative and serves as a teacher with Horizons Hampton Roads, Inc. Previously, Ms. Woodhouse gained valuable expertise with Portsmouth Public Schools, Horizons Hampton Roads, Inc., Virginia Beach City Public Schools, the City of Norfolk, and Old Dominion University.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Woodhouse worked for Horizons Hampton Roads, Inc., through which she served as a high school aide and went on to create the position of Program Site Assistant through her dedication while still completing her K-12 education. Ms. Woodhouse went on to work for Old Dominion University as an Outreach and Event Coordinator for Black Student Alliance. As an Outreach and Event Coordinator, she recruited, placed, retained, and supported Black Student Alliance members and maintained relationships with collaborative partners. Outside of her work, Ms. Woodhouse has contributed to her community through the local Big Brother Big Sister Foundation, CIVIC Scholars, and the Southeastern Virginia Arts Association.
In order to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Woodhouse aligns herself with the National Educators Association, the Virginia Educators Association, the American Historical Association, Kappa Delta Pi, and the National Council for Social Studies. An educational expert, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in history with minors in secondary education, geography, and public service, and a Master of Science in educational leadership and administration from Old Dominion University.
Throughout her career, Ms. Woodhouse has expanded upon her expertise by earning certifications in Public Financial Management Data for Effective Policy-making, pediatric and adult CPR, and economic development. In light of her professional experience, she won the Excellence in Education Award; presented to her by the Global Forum for Education and Learning. Though her career has been filled with standout moments, she takes the most pride in being involved in the community and strives to align social emotional learning with cultural competency through her work. While at Old Dominion University, she wrote what became an inclusive excellence framework that has served the Old Dominion University community in maintaining their commitment to inclusivity and diversity. She attributes her success to her father, aunts, and uncles, who instilled in her the importance of family values. In the coming years, Ms. Woodhouse aims to earn her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction.
