Drawing upon extensive expertise gained by working in the criminal justice system for 28 years, Mrs. Holmes-Taylor has served as the administrator for Colleton County Detention Center since 2021. Known for her outstanding leadership, she is responsible for several tasks, including overseeing daily operations of the facility, ensuring employees are properly trained and identifying areas where improvements can be made.
Prior to her current role, Mrs. Holmes-Taylor served as the administrative captain for the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office Detention Center, managing more than 100 staff members. She considers her most notable career achievement has been becoming the first female to hold the rank of captain in Dorchester County, South Carolina, which she earned in 2013.
In recognition of her accomplishments in the field, Mrs. Holmes-Taylor received the Officer of the Year Award from Colleton County in 1999. In addition, she was featured on the Waterboro Live website. As a commitment to her profession, she is an active member of the American Jail Association and the South Carolina Jail Administrator Association. Looking toward the future, Mrs. Holmes-Taylor intends to stay in her role for as long as she can continue to be an asset to Colleton County Jail. When she eventually retires, she intends to focus on other ways to serve humanity.
