Backed by decades of expertise in the fields of Pastoral Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling, the Rev. Mr. Koepke presently excels as a counselor with the eponymous Koepke Marriage and Family & Mental Health Counseling, PLLC. For more than 45 years, he has specialized in working with struggling couples to help them overcome their issues and rebuild and maintain their relationships. Over the years, he has gained valuable expertise in the field as a Pastoral Counselor with the Lutheran Service Society, the Pastoral Counseling Group of Western New York, and the Samaritan Pastoral Counseling Center. He has also worked in the Mental Health Clinic in Batavia, New York, as well as being a Pastor serving churches for almost 30 years.
While in high school, he was an All County and All State musician and played Tympani/percussion in the Suffolk Symphony, the South Shore Symphony, the Huntington Festival Orchestra, as well as playing numerous Broadway musicals for the Gateway Playhouse in Bellport NY as well as for the Brookhaven National Laboratory theater group. He has played for Showstoppers, a group of about 20 actors and actresses hired to perform showstopper numbers from Broadway musicals for various groups. Graduating Longwood High School (Middle Island New York) in 1968, winning the Outstanding Musician Award, Mr. Koepke earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Social Sciences from Wagner College (Staten Island NY) in 1972, graduating Magna Cum Laude while winning the Outstanding PreSeminary Award. Subsequently, he expanded upon his professional knowledge by completing a Master's Degree in Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary (Gettysburg PA) in 1976 and a Master of Science in Education from the State University of New York's College at Buffalo in 1981. Also provisionally certified to teach K-12 Music and Social Studies, he has previously substitute taught for both Amherst and Cleveland Hill High Schools, as well as home tutored for Cleveland Hill High School while coaching the Modified Boys Basketball program there (taking team members to summer basketball camp in Edinboro PA). Additionally, he has given talks at high schools and colleges for the Anorexia Bulimia Buffalo Association while running therapy groups for them as well.
While his career has been filled with numerous highlights, Mr. Koepke takes the most pride in maintaining his counseling practice for more than four decades. Within the coming years, Mr. Koepke intends to move his practice forward and continue to help others overcome the hurdles of living so as to allow them to lead more fulfilling lives.
