Maureen Eris Vidal has been interested in the arts and entertainment industries from a young age. During junior and senior high school, she took acting courses in theater, which introduced her to the field that would later become her career. After receiving a BA from Cortland State Teachers College in 1976, she went on to serve as an English and drama teacher for the New York City Board of Education. As her career progressed, she went on to become chair of the women's history department and dean. She retired from academia in 2015 as a drama teacher.
