Drawing on years of expertise in nursing, surgical care, hospital administration, and leadership, Ms. Bradford presently excels as a healthcare consultant with the eponymous Bradford Consulting, LLC. During the initial stages of her career, she gained valuable expertise in nursing and leadership as the director of Surgical Services at Norton Healthcare, where she worked from 1994 until 2020. In her work with Norton Healthcare, Ms. Bradford utilized her considerable knowledge to improve quality of patient care, mentor new leaders, and establish an invitation-only surgeon council. The OR Operations Council became the decision-making committee for surgical services policy creation, implementation, and compliance for all surgery departments at Norton Hospital.
Driven to stay current in her field, Ms. Bradford aligns herself with the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN). Outside of her work, she contributes to her community through membership at The Church of Annunciation Catholic Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and her support of The Ryan Foundation. An expert in her field, she holds an Associate of Arts and Science in nursing from the University of Louisville (1977), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of the State of New York (1990), and a Master of Arts in Health Systems Management from Webster University (1996). Ms. Bradford obtained the National Certification in Operating Room Nursing (CNOR) early in her career as a nurse in surgery and continues to hold the certification in emeritus status.
Considering her outstanding body of work, Ms. Bradford received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award from Webster University (1996), Norton Hospital Nurse Leader of the Year award (2016) and a runner-up for the Kentucky Organization of Nurse Leaders (KONL) Lifetime Achievement Award (2018). While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in keeping her patients safe. Though challenging work and dedication brought her far in her career, she credits her overall success to the lofty expectations and support from her parents. In the coming years, Ms. Bradford hopes to continue to mentor young leaders in nursing.
