NORMAN, OK, January 11, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bin Zheng, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Zheng is recognized as an expert in engineering, having joined the faculty at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the University of Oklahoma as a professor in 2013 and subsequently being named the Gerald Tuma presidential professor in 2020. Dr. Zheng has also been an Oklahoma TSET Cancer Research Scholar at the Stephenson Cancer Center since 2014. Currently, Dr. Zheng serves as a principal investigator and director of Oklahoma Center of Medical Imaging for Translational Cancer Research, a Center of Biomedical Research Excellent awarded to the University of Oklahoma by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences in February 2022. His career in academia, however, began in 1994 as an assistant, then associate and full professor of radiology at the University of Pittsburgh.
Apart from teaching and research work in the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Zheng has been the editor-in-chief of the Journal of X-Ray and Technology and a fellow of American Institute for Medicine and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) since 2016. Among other professional achievements, Dr. Zheng has contributed more than 210 peer-reviewed research articles to various scholarly journals in his area of expertise since 1993 and has notably garnered recognition for receiving significant research project awards since 1998 (including 5 R01 and one R21 grants awarded by the National Institutes of Health).
Attributing to his success, Dr. Zheng has received numerous U.S. patents in his field as they relate to computer-aided detection schemes, mammograms, radiographs, and more. Looking toward the future, he plans to continue teaching where he can educate and mentor future leaders in the industry. He also intends to continue conducting research. Dr. Zheng possesses a rich educational background, which began in China with a Bachelor of Science in engineering at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology in 1984. Dr. Zheng also received a Doctor of Philosophy in electric engineering in the U.S. at the University of Delaware in 1993, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in 1994.
