ARLINGTON, TX, January 12, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Loretta Lavern Rhodes-Sanders has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in special education, Dr. Rhodes-Sanders has earned distinction as a Career Ladder Teacher, and diagnostic evaluation specialist. In this capacity, she has been working with Fort Worth ISD since 2002, focusing her efforts on assessing students to determine whether they qualify for special education. This involves giving each student a cognitive and achievement test with other assessments to determine their eligibility, working with students through the high school level.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Rhodes-Sanders began her career as an educator in Waco ISD, special education teacher for the Pleasant Grove ISD in 1970 and Texarkana ISD in 1985. She then was an inclusion facilitator for Castleberry ISD from 1994 to 2002. Also a dedicated civil advocate, she volunteers with her church, Bethlehem Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas, and is part of the choir ministry.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Rhodes-Sanders earned a Bachelor of Science and a master's degree in special education and teaching of individuals in an elementary special education program from Prairie View A&M University and East Texas State University in 1968. She then attained a Doctor of Education in curriculum and instruction from Texas Wesleyan University. Loretta was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society during her first semester and maintained the honor society status. Loretta has studied different cultures abroad in Trinidad & Tobago, and Oxford, England. She completed her dissertation study in the area of Executive Function and Working Memory Deficits in Special Education Students with Specific Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorders in a Large Urban North Texas School District. Well-qualified in her field, she holds a degree in elementary education with an Art minor, intellectual disability formerly known as Mental Retardation certification, educational diagnostician certification, language and learning disability certification.
Within the coming years, Dr. Rhodes-Sanders intends to retire, writing on her experience when she does. She also may engage in subcontracting for testing, helping to improve the assessments used in her line of work to provide access to services to those students who need it.
