Connie Goodman-Milone Joins Her Voice with Others to Create Change

    MIAMI, FL, January 17, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Connie Goodman-Milone has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

For more than two decades, Connie Goodman-Milone has been a writer and hospice volunteer in Miami. Previously, she worked in publishing and writing in Philadelphia. She then worked as a writer in New York City and was a radio reader for In Touch Networks at the Jewish Guild for the Blind. She is a co-author of an anthology book, "Bereavement Poetry Project," which is in progress. Her works include poetry and photos featured in Medicinal Purposes Literary Review, and she has had articles published in New Directions/Social Work Advocate and the Health and Social Services Networker.

In addition, she has contributed poems, articles and photos for VITAS Vital Signs and the Author's Voice newsletter of the South Florida Writers Association. She is author of a chapbook, Walk a Giant Piano, as well as had poems featured in The New Press, Nomad's Choir, Poets Market, Today's Caregiver, The Grief Observer, Healthy Stories, Poet's Corner of Bridle Path Press, 45 Magazine Women's Literary Journal, Dark Wood, Florida State Poets Association Anthology, Cadence, and Of Poets and Poetry.

Lending her writing skills to various avenues, Ms. Goodman-Milone has contributed Letters to the Editor to the Miami Herald, South Florida Sun Sentinel, and San Antonio Express-News. More recently, she had a Letter to the Editor published in the Sunday Miami Herald. Likewise, she has contributed many more poems and articles to newspapers and journals and has won numerous awards as a poet. Her phenomenal work as a writer has earned her inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who in the World.

Ms. Goodman-Milone's educational background consists of a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from The George Washington University, which she earned with special honors and distinction in 1985, as well as a Master of Social Work from Barry University in 1999. She served as a social work intern at Bayview Center for Mental Health and the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center in Miami, later working for a brief time as a case manager in skilled nursing for Doctors Hospital.

To remain abreast of her line of work, Ms. Goodman-Milone is a member of various organizations including the Miami Poets chapter of the Florida State Poets Association, the Academy of American Poets, the National Writers Union, the National Association for Poetry Therapy, and the National Association of Social Workers. She belongs to Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Sigma, and Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. In addition, she stands as Past President and Community Relations Director of the South Florida Writers Association. Ms. Goodman-Milone has a column in and serves as an editor for the association's Author's Voice newsletter. She won the Bill Katzker Member of the Year Award from the South Florida Writers Association in 2003.

Alongside her primary work, Ms. Goodman-Milone is also driven to serve her community as a hospice and bereavement volunteer for VITAS Healthcare. She is a member of the Leadership Council for the Southern Poverty Law Center and is a past chair, past director, and active member of the Junior Orange Bowl Creative Writing Committee. Ms. Goodman-Milone was awarded an Exemplary Medal from the Miami-Dade County School Board, District 9 in 2013 and remains a devoted Friend of the Miami Book Fair.

Further, Ms. Goodman-Milone supports Children's Bereavement Center, Children's Cancer Research Fund, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Jewish World Service, World Jewish Congress American Section, Democratic National Committee, People for the American Way, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and Human Rights Campaign. She is a Champion for the American Red Cross, dedicated supporter of Sandy Hook Promise, Everytown for Gun Safety, Brady PAC, Americans for Responsible Solutions (Giffords PAC), USO, and Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Additionally, she is a Sixth Ring member of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation and a member of Amnesty International and USA for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.

Ms. Goodman-Milone is a Field Partner for Doctors Without Borders, as well as a member of the Wildlife Rescue Team for World Wildlife Fund, Leaders Club for the National Wildlife Federation, and Wildlife Guardian for Defenders of Wildlife. She is an ASPCA Guardian and member of the Humane Society of the United States and a supporter of Natural Resources Defense Council, The Nature Conservancy, and Friends of the Everglades. A cancer survivor herself, she is a supporter and fundraiser for Susan G. Komen and Captain of Team Pink Panthers for the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale MORE THAN PINK Walk.

Finding vast success throughout the course of her career, Ms. Goodman-Milone has received numerous awards from VITAS Healthcare, Dade-Monroe Program. She was honored as Bereavement Volunteer of the Year in 2001, the 11-Year Volunteer Award recipient in 2011, and was honored with a 2021 VITAS BEST Award. A special highlight for her was receiving a Humanitarian Award from Marquis Who's Who in 2017. She was also honored to receive an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

Notably, Ms. Goodman-Milone was interviewed by Jim Masters on a series of radio shows with CUTV News (now Close-Up Radio) in 2018. One meaningful topic she covered was the healing power of poetry. Another topic was philanthropy and how charitable giving does not have to be in the multi-thousand dollars; several people contributing smaller amounts can make a difference. Although she is only one voice, she can create change by inspiring others to join her and take up causes that will benefit the world.
