Leveraging several years of excellence as a licensed insurance representative and medical technician, Ms. Levengood has earned distinction as a traveling Operating Room Liaison (ORL) and Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) for the STERIS Corporation. Since 2018, she has focused her efforts on liaising between the sterile processing department (SPD) and the surgical departments. She remains diligently versatile to support in multiple aspects of surgery. This includes all aspects of sterile processing and coordinating between SPD and the operating room staff to maximize successful surgeries. This also includes ensuring prompt turnover to maximize profits, equipment needs, soft goods supply needs, instrument needs, preoperative setup, and training sterile processing with operating room staff on efficiency and up-to-date standards.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Levengood began her career as an operating room assistant (ORA) at a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska in the early 1990s. However, due to being a young single mother of two boys, she became one of the top licensed sales and marketing specialist with State Farm Insurance for 17 years to better support her children. Once they were grown adults, she returned to her love of the operating room. She became a sterile processing technician (SPT) in Denver at SCL Health in 2018, with hopes of one day becoming a director of sterile processing. She then became a traveling SPT for Aya Healthcare in 2020.
While embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Levengood earned an Associate of Applied Science in Management from Colorado Technical University (in 9 months) in 2019 with the highest honors. She then earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Healthcare Management with a minor in Informatics from the same institution in 2022 but, graduated a year early with Summa Cum Laude status. Well-qualified in her field, she is a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), and Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL). She also carries certifications for Certified Endoscope Reprocessing (CER), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and basic life support (BLS).
It is only due to the tenacity and teachings of her grandfather, the forgiveness and love of her mother, the protection and guidance of her older brother, the joy and pride of her children, and her incessant good nature, kindness, and laughter she processes that made this "rags to riches" story manifest.
Within the coming years, Ms. Levengood intends to fulfill her new role as a traveling educator, using education to bridge the gap between employees in the operating room and those in the sterile processing department (SPD) to transform both into a more cohesive unit. She plans to continue this work into the future fulfilling her passion for helping others, her drive to set a precedence for workplace comradery, and improving healthcare for everyone.
