Dr. Rathee joined Delaware State University (DSU) in Dover in 2009 as an assistant professor in the department of education. She was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor and served as the interim director of education graduate programs before being appointed as the full-time director and full professor. Dr. Rathee is also serving as the chairperson of the Graduate Committee of the Education Department. She has been actively engaged with various committees on campus, including as a member of the Council for Professional Education, a board member of the Promotion and Tenure Committee, a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, a member of Academic Affairs Committee, member of International Programs Enrollment Management Council, member of University Graduate Council, and a member of the subcommittee of the DE&I Task Force that leads various campus events.
Levering her strong background in higher education, Dr. Rathee joined a research collaboration with Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, as a visiting scholar in the department of physics and astronomy in 2012. Prior to that, she taught in her home country of India at her alma mater, Panjab University, in Chandigarh as a reader and as an acting Chairperson of the Department, as well as at several other local institutions. Dr. Rathee notably began in the field as a lecturer at the Government College for Girls in Chandigarh in 1986.
Throughout her distinguished professional career, Dr. Rathee has guided more than 60 doctoral scholars in their research and has also been selected as an advisor for guiding a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Almeria in Spain. Additionally, Dr. Rathee has been chosen to evaluate many international Ph. D. dissertations. Looking toward the future, Dr. Rathee aims to advance in her career by earning the title of a senior executive officer or attaining some other prestigious administrative role.
Dr. Rathee has also enjoyed the opportunity to serve as a guest lecturer, presenter, and keynote speaker at numerous institutions and conferences, including the UNO's International Forum on Peace And Development, and chairing several technical sessions at various professional conferences. Dr. Rathee has attended over 114 international conferences. Furthermore, Dr. Rathee has been appreciated for being invited to the Solidarity Force Administration Program, which the International Olympic Committee organized.
Dr. Rathee has secured numerous grants to support her projects as a researcher. Meanwhile, as a scholar, she has contributed more than 55 scholarly articles to various professional journals and has served on various editorial boards. She has also authored several book chapters and 11 books, including "Historical Readings in Physical Education," in 2019. Her book, "Contemporary Yoga Education Transforming the Body, Mind & Soul," has acclaimed worldwide appreciation and has also been translated into Italian by Professors from Italy's "G. d'Annunzio" University. Moreover, Dr. Rathee has contributed chapters in a new book on physical education and motor abilities, which will be published through Human Kinetics, and has also contributed a chapter for a STEM book titled "Younger, Gifted, and Missing," which references the underrepresentation of African Americans in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines.
Devoted to various community-wide organizations, Dr. Rathee has been affiliated with various organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club, ISKCON of Delaware, and American Heart Association as a volunteer speaker and heart walk participant. Dr. Rathee has supported numerous nonprofit organizations focusing on children with various learning and other disabilities, including the dyslexia foundation, Reagan's Voice Educational Consulting Group, Autism Delaware, and Delaware Association for Blind Athletes. She has also served as a volunteer for the Special Olympics Basketball and, among other activities, as a volunteer steward for the Guinness Book of World Records.
Having earned a bachelor's degree in her home country of India, Dr. Rathee continued her studies, garnering a Master of Art and Doctor of Philosophy in Education at Panjab University in 1985 and 1992, respectively. To remain aware of developments in her field, she has been a professional member of a wide variety of professional groups, including the World Education Research Association (WERA), the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), the International Organization for Scientific Research (IOSR), the International Society for Justice Research (ISJR), the National Consortium for Physical Education, and Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID), International Honor Society in Education KAPPA DELTA PI, and British Association of Sport & Exercise Sciences.
In honor of her work, Dr. Rathee has been recognized with dozens of awards and recognitions. Most recently, she received a Best Research Paper Award at the IOSSBR Winter Online Conference in 2021 and recognition for Outstanding Presentation at the Education, Psychology, and Humanities International Conference in 2021. Dr. Rathee also won an Outstanding Faculty Award from DSU's education department in 2020 and the coveted Global Teacher Role Model Award in 2018.
