DURHAM, NC, February 21, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Husidio John Tempest has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
From the time he was a child, Mr. Tempest was driven to pursue a career in the arts by his love for music and the daily exposure to his father, Gerard Tempest, who founded Abstract Spiritualism, and was a professional artist of international acclaim and awards. After studying multiple instruments throughout his younger years, John's interest eventually branched out, and years later he found success as a professional artist, notably with tempestportraits.com. In addition to a prominent clientele of portrait commissions, which were his specialty, he began painting abstracts of horses, as well as religious works.
Throughout his career, Mr. Tempest has been featured for "A Triangle Profile" on Husidio John Tempest, a Time Warner Cable Production. His international portraits include two that are currently featured at the Giorgio de Chirico museum, named for the forerunner of surrealism, which is located in the Abby of Santa Phillipa Mareri, Borgo San Pietro, Italy. Likewise, he was honored through Duke University's Bryan Center commission in 2020, and as a Centurion Donor at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in 1995.
In his artistic field, Mr. Tempest holds a bachelor's degree in art history with a minor in music composition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked in tandem over the years with his father Gerard Tempest, and studied under the two American portrait greats, John Sanden and Nelson Shanks, at the Student Arts League, in New York City in the late 1980s.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Tempest took pride in having been a liaison for Isa DeChirico in the early 1980s. As her agent, he established graphic and sculpture shows at the Fogg Museum at Harvard, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Coral Gables, FL. Mr. Tempest established his philosophical statement in the allegorical painting "Trichometric Universality" when he was commissioned by Duke University's Bryan Center. His commission was to create a painting that would evoke his family heritage in capturing the majestic beauty of horses, which dates back to 1600 with his ancestor, influential painter and engraver, Antonio Tempesta. This 6-foot by 12-foot work in oil on canvas is situated in the entranceway to Reynolds Industries Theater inside the Bryan Center, underneath a skylight; it has been viewed by innumerable visitors worldwide since being permanently installed in January 2020. Mr. Tempest has painted commissioned works throughout the United States, as well as internationally, including in Canada and Italy. The cornerstone of his success was the inspiration he received from his father's style of art, and his association and influence of DeChirico in the later 20th century.
