In this capacity, he diagnoses and treats a wide variety of patients, and bears a particular specialization in oral and maxillofacial surgery, encompassing facial reconstruction, orthognathic surgery and the treatment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. He also demonstrates a great deal of proficiency in dental alveolar surgery, which includes wisdom teeth removal, extractions, bone grafting, and dental implant surgery.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Dr. Singer has parlayed his knowledge to students as an associate professor at the Howard University College of Dentistry since 1981. Additionally, he has provided free oral surgical services on behalf of numerous charitable groups, including the N Street Village, the Spanish Catholic Center and the Hebrew Home in Rockville, Maryland. Furthermore, Dr. Singer has cared for a wide variety of underprivileged schoolchildren, as well as survivors of the Holocaust who live in the District of Columbia, and served as a liaison to the Howard University College of Dentistry and the District of Columbia Elementary Schools for "Give Kids a Smile" day for over a decade.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Dr. Singer maintains his affiliation with several relevant organizations, including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the American Society of Osseointegration, the Maimonides Dental Society, the Pan American Medical Society and the District of Columbia Dental Society, of which he is a past president. Moreover, he is a fellow of both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, and has been inducted into the honorable society of Alpha Omega.
Before embarking upon his professional journey, Dr. Singer sought a formal education at Brooklyn College, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology in 1973. Following this accomplishment, he attended the Howard University College of Dentistry, where he graduated on the honor roll with a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1978. Dr. Singer went on to undertake oral and maxillofacial surgical residencies at Howard University, the VA Hospital in Washington, D.C. and D.C. General Hospital, where he notably served as the chief resident.
Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Dr. Singer has received numerous accolades throughout the course of his career, including the Israel Shulman Award from the Maimonides Dental Society, the Avodah Award for Community Service from the Washington Hebrew Congregation and the Sterling V. Mead Award from the District of Columbia Dental Society. Additionally, he earned several awards from the Howard University College of Dentistry, such as the Dean's Award, the John Turner Award and the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award.
Among his most cherished accomplishments, Dr. Singer is gratified to have dedicated his career to service on behalf of his patients. In accounting for his success, he largely credits the influence of his father, who encouraged him to become a dentist. Looking toward the future, Dr. Singer hopes to experience sustained professional growth and begin orienting his priorities toward retirement.
