Mr. Burrill began his professional career in 1984 as an accountant and technology consultant at Price Waterhouse Coopers. In 1987 he joined Matria Healthcare (now Abbott) working directly for the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer/Chairman on strategic initiatives until 1991. During his tenure the company went from first revenue to $275 million in annual sales, undertook a successful Initial Public Offering and was on Fortune's list of the 100 fastest growing companies in the US.
In 1992 he cofounded the software analytics company InAlysys, Inc. where he served as President, Chief Operating Officer and on the Board of Directors. InAlysys was a pioneer in the field of Artificial Intelligence, served multiple Fortune 500 clients, earned global recognition from industry experts such as Gartner, Computer World and the Smithsonian Institution, and was acquired by Cognizant's TriZetto Healthcare Products in 2003. Subsequent to that acquisition Mr. Burrill ran TriZetto's national business intelligence and data warehousing practice. In 2004 he joined Trendspotters, Inc. as Director of Software Strategy working with Microsoft to define the future of its Dynamics offering. He served as the Chief Information Officer ("CIO") for SiliconSystems, Inc. (now Western Digital) from 2005 to 2009, and as the Interim CIO for Summit Materials, Inc. from 2010 to 2012. In 2013 he became a Director with Next Cubed, the consulting arm of Sway Ventures, advising and coaching early stage SaaS companies until starting his present role in 2018.
Passionate about providing mentorship for those in his community, Mr. Burrill has served at the troop level and on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Council of Boy Scouts of America. He has volunteered with the United Way and Special Olympics. He has spent a decade working with the National Alliance on Mental Illness to collect, curate and publish the stories of patients, families and clinicians navigating the journey of addiction and mental illness. He has partnered with several national healthcare networks on behavioral and population health initiatives. And he is a former chapter advisor and president of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
He maintains a license as a Certified Public Accountant with inactive status in California and is Certified as a Project Management Professional and Scrum Master. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Project Management Institute, and the Scrum Alliance. He has published over a dozen articles on topics related to business, information systems and healthcare administration. He continues to be a frequent presenter at global and national conferences on information technology and project management.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Burrill earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Psychology, from the University of California, Irvine in 1979. He earned a Master of Business Administration in 1981 from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business where he later pursued a doctorate in Organizational and Systems Design and served as an undergraduate Instructor until 1983.
