ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL, February 04, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lara Becker has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on nearly 30 years as an educator, Ms. Becker is recognized for her excellence as a teacher at John Hersey High School, where she teaches speech, communication, writing and acting. Lara directs the spring show and sponsors the Improvisation Club. A standout among her peers, she possesses a unique combination of education and experience that have led to her success in the classroom.
Ms. Becker first sought an education at Lewis University, earning a bachelor's degree in speech/theater and secondary education and teaching in 1992. After gaining firsthand experience as a classroom teacher during the 1990s, she returned to school, herself, to obtain a Master of Arts in speech and performing arts from Northeastern University in 1999. Later, in 2011, she would acquire a master's degree in educational leadership and administration from Olivet Nazarene University.
A member of National Illinois Theatre Educators, Ms. Becker has taught at John Hersey High School since 1996. She takes pride in her collaborative approach to teaching; while her career has been filled with many memorable moments, she is especially proud of her success in using theater as a bridge to various disciplines, leading to impressive interdisciplinary projects. For example, Ms. Becker recently collaborated with a health teacher on a project in which acting students played a role as patients while health students took their vitals. The students then reviewed one another based on their believability, for the acting students, and their bedside manner, for the health students. Creative projects like these have earned Ms. Becker recognition as a featured teacher by the Daily Herald.
Ms. Becker credits her success to her talented leaders and inspirational coworkers, who make her want to perform to the very best of her abilities. Now that she is approaching the end of her career — and inspired by an especially beautiful autumn — she is making it her goal to burn brighter and bring even more energy to her work, especially in mentoring others.
