For more than 40 years, Dr. John found success as the builder and the director of multiple residential psychiatric centers. Prior to his retirement, he also worked as a school psychologist and focused on integrating children with special needs into traditional classroom settings. During this period, Dr. John simultaneously served as a professor at Idaho State University.
After obtaining a bachelor's degree in education at Utah State University, Dr. John earned a Doctor of Education in special education at the aforementioned institution. Between 1969 and 1971, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology on behalf of the National Institutes of Mental Health. In addition to the aforementioned psychiatric facilities, Dr. John also played an instrumental role in the establishment of Hillside Living Center in Logan, Utah.
