Presently a resident psychiatrist in the department of psychiatry at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham, Dr. Halim is garnering expertise in her field by performing clinical work on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Dr. Halim also cares for patients suffering from various levels of acuity on the psychiatric unit and mentors residents and medical students in the field.
Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Halim developed both a passion and aptitude for psychiatry, specifically as it relates to children's mental health. At the time, she was employed as a behavior technician for children with autism at Centria Healthcare between 2016 and 2017. Additionally, Dr. Halim aspires to begin publishing her research on acute mental health cases in peer-reviewed journals.
While coming of age as a child of Indian immigrants, Dr. Halim witnessed how mental health was frequently ignored and downplayed in her culture. After graduating, Dr. Halim was accepted to Oakland University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology in 2016. Continuing her studies, she achieved a Doctor of Medicine at Wayne State University in 2021.
